CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
In line with the Musical Écran music documentary festival, Bordeaux Rock is involved year-round with various organizations in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region by offering music documentary screenings and film education workshops.
This approach takes the form of screenings of music documentaries followed by discussions with a specialist in the themes covered in the films. The speakers (directors, musicologists, journalists, teacher-researchers, etc.) enrich the sessions with their insights. Some screenings are also complemented by video practice and film education workshops, offering a fun and hands-on artistic experience around the themes explored in the films.
Combining cinema and music to raise social questions
A comprehensive medium, the music documentary allows for the discussion of topics that resonate with school curricula: community artistic and musical practices, the emergence of subcultures, and contemporary social issues. By broadening perspectives and offering a fresh look at themes such as combating discrimination, freedom of expression, and activism, the music documentary promotes diversity, intercultural dialogue, tolerance, and respect for human rights.
During the 2019-2020 school year, more than 600 students participated in these screenings. Some of the schools we collaborate with include: Lycée Gustave Eiffel (Bordeaux), Lycée Sans Frontière (Pessac), Lycée Saint Louis (Bordeaux), Lycée Victor Louis (Talence), Collège Henri de Navarre (Coutras)…
DISCOVER ONE OF OUR ACTION
CULTURAL ACTION – OUTSIDE SCHOOL HOURS
We also offer cultural action projects (music documentary screenings and workshops) for young people from social organizations (Grand Parc Social Center and Activity Center) as well as in prison environments (the juvenile ward of Gradignan prison).
Our approach is to co-construct the project with partner organizations and participants in order to propose relevant projects and to develop lasting partnerships with the various stakeholders in the region.
You are a teacher or working in a social organization and wish to develop an enriching cultural project? Our team is here to offer you customized sessions.
