There are other documentaries about Damo Suzuki, but this older one is special as it brings back members of Can who are no longer with us. Another unique aspect lies in the director’s personality and his “taste for seeing things differently.” This documentary offers insight into a lesser-known form of expression: improvised rock music.
The film follows a French tour built around Damo Suzuki’s particular concept—playing in each country with different and, most importantly, unknown musicians. Beyond the format, this reflects a deep philosophy from the singer, who sees the routine of everyday situations as a major threat to civilization, one that hinders deeper communication between people and stifles creativity—something that ultimately led to his departure from Can.
