November 9th, 8pm – Molière Theatre

MOGWAI,

IF THE STARS HAD A SOUND

In the Sphere of the Cult Post-Rock Band

Antony Crook · 2024 · 90’ · Scot

Beneath this poetic title lies the film by a longtime collaborator of Mogwai, one of the major bands in the Post Rock movement. The film traces their journey from 1995 to the recording of their 10th album: As The Love in 2021, during the lockdown.

Here, Antony Scott focuses on the music and the connections it has fostered within the community surrounding the band and its fans (from Alex Kapranos to writer Ian Rankin). The urban landscape of Glasgow, their hometown, archival footage from the band’s early days, phone interviews, and radio shows intertwine as Mogwai’s music shimmers on the soundtrack, enriching this humble and sincere film about the cult band.
