ELECTRONIC BODY MOVIE
The Story of This Iconic Musical Genre
Pietro Anton · 2024 · 52’ · It/All
Finally, a film about Electro Body Music! This musical genre, which emerged in the early 80s in Belgium, would go on to influence Detroit’s techno scene.
EBM was a punk interpretation by a generation that couldn’t understand why such a provocative movement still relied on traditional instruments. Hypnotized by Suicide and heavy users of electronic technology, the pioneers of the genre sought to fuse the sweat of dance with the electricity of the anxiety-filled context of the looming East/West conflict.
Pietro Anton gathers all the greats: Front 242, D.A.F, Liaisons Dangereuses, Nitzer Ebb, Klinik, Neon Judgment… as well as Terence Fixmer and The Hacker, in a dynamic montage that aligns perfectly with this music.
A much-needed revival for a young generation that has already recognized the genre’s modernity through bands like Sextile, Chris Baha, and Djedjotronic.
